Lake Orion High School’s boys golf team took home their first ever state championship last month at The Fortress Golf Course in Frankenmuth, MI.
“This is just a great moment,” said senior and captain Drew Coble. “We worked very hard for this all season long. We dreamed about this all through the year. We started kind of slow, we built up momentum and when (senior Andrew) Remer came back, we had a great year.”
The boys dominated the course by shooting a 606 over the two days.
The Dragons were 11 strokes ahead of second place Grosse Pointe South.
Additionally, Lake Orion’s Justin Sui took home the individual state championship, shooting a 141 and defeating his Grosse Pointe South opponent during playoffs on their second hole. — M.K.
