The Lake Orion High School boys water polo team headed to Mason on Sept. 27 and 28 for the Hang Ten tournament.
The boy’s first game against Mason High School resulted in a strong 7-4 win for the Dragons.
Clarkston sophomore goalie Adam Ehrenberger tallied six saves, containing the Bulldogs. Lake Orion and Clarkston high schools have a unified water polo team.
Clarkston senior Ryan Ludwa and Lake Orion junior Dane Herrick led the team in offense with three goals a piece, and Lake Orion senior J.P. Buckner adding another. Herrick also had three steals, with fellow Lake Orion junior Michael Pavelich snagging two and Clarkston junior Owen Brown with one.
Later that afternoon, the Dragons dominated Portage High School with a 15-5 victory. Jack Watt and Ehrenberger maintained the goal with three and two saves, respectively.
Brown led the Dragons in steals with three, while Buckner, Herrick and Ludwa had two each and Noah and Jack Watt adding one a piece.
The Dragon offense was led again by Herrick and Brown who each had three goals. Lake Orion sophomore Nick Kadulski, Jack Watt and Pavelich pitched in two a piece, and Buckner, along with Clarkston senior Jack Storey, contributed one goal.
On Oct. 1 the Dragons traveled to Walled Lake where they were handed a tough 10-4 loss. Ehrenberger dominated the net with 11 saves. Buckner and Herrick each had three steals, while Ludwa added two. Brown and Pavelich each had one goal.
Herrick and Ludwa also led in scoring with two goals each.
The boys take on Okemos High School at 6 p.m. in the Lake Orion High School natatorium on Wednesday.
