I wonder how Abe would have done in Gallup polls

When did political polls start? I don’t really want to know. I hear only those that reflect my choices.
But, that’s just my way of getting to this Jottings.
What started this thinking was a comment made by Wayne, my barber. Which took me back several years. Then president of the Oxford Board of Education, Dr. G. E. Meads, when reviewing applicants for superintendent went to the applicant’s town and interviewed barbers.
The applicant was Rel Ambrose. He was hired by the Board and served here many years.
My barber, Wayne, said last week, ‘I’m really surprised how many tell me they aren’t going to vote in the upcoming presidential election.?
I understand how people can get sick and tired of all the lying, promises, lying, negative comments and lying.
Sure Obama and Romney sound alike at times. Sure they are ‘politicians.? Sure the liberal and conservative voters find considerable fault with the other side.
But not to vote at all in our United States is wrong. A non-voter is a nothing. A blank ballot is like giving up on America.
Just because there is no Dwight David Eisenhower or other proven and loved leader as a Dem or GOP choice, doesn’t excuse eligible voters for staying away from the voting booths.
There IS a candidate from each party on the ballot and one will be elected. If that’s not the one you voted for, at least you can tell people you didn’t vote for him.
If you do not vote at all you can’t even get into the argument.
Voting is the least amount of commitment you can make.

Back to polls and my barber, or female hairdressers (same thing for my point of view). Forget all the cold phone calls.
Get the opinions from the people-persons. Business listener-owners. I think pollsters would get more accurate predictions from real people rather than from those phone responder people who start off upset with having to leave their stool to answer some political questioner.

I gotta get back to what Jottings readers demand. Nonsense.
? I’d like to know how much our government granted some college educated person for this study: Birds first color choice of cars for their droppings is red. Second is blue and green is last.
? Seems the Democrat Party has become the Lawyers Party – Barack, Hillary, Michelle, Bill, two Edwards, Gore, though he didn’t graduate.
? Get those kids off ipads, etc, and get them to pull taffy. That was my childhood favorite.
? Isn’t the AARP just another money making insurance and investment company?
? Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And, if it stops moving, subsidize it. Ronald Reagan.
? I’ll end with this from Mark Twain: The only difference between man and a taxidermist is the taxidermist leaves the skin.
