About 50 years ago we were taking our daughter Susan and her friend Laurie Davidson to our place in the Upper P.
I thought they needed some entertainment, so I started singing, ‘Around the corner and under the tree, a fair young maiden waited there for me.
‘She kissed me once, she kissed me twice. It wasn’t a very good thing to do, but boy was it nice, Boop! Boop!??
The two started giggling. They don’t remember what year it was, but they still remember the ditty.

My therapist says I’m still swimming in de-Nile. I haven’t given it a lot of thought, until now, but I do wonder at times why an MD referred me to a shrink.
Maybe I should re-read some of the 3,333 Jottings columns I’ve written.
On the other hand, this therapist got me to get back to typing. I just love writing Jottings, especially whenever a semi-entertaining thought appears.
It follows my belief that all newspapers should devote space to some grin-producing material.

I’m sure you don’t mind if I quote one verse of the Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Dear students:
I know when you’re texting in class.
Seriously, no one just looks down at their crotch and smiles
Sincerely, your teacher.

Recently, Detroit’s PBS station Channel 56 showed three hours of advertising for public tv’s two hours of programming about Johnny Carson’s life from boyhood through four marriages.
Johnny was fantastic at getting laughs from kids, celebrities, all his guests and me.
I jotted down this quickie from 1993.
Johnny said, ‘Prices are going up on everything these days. Prices of meat are so high, Oscar Mayer is having his wiener reappraised.?

What is happening to our society?
There is a growing divide. Some of the division should be blamed on college and university professors.
A professor at Virginia Tech wrote an article encouraging students and non-students to stop supporting our troops.
This is the reverse of our generals who spend their time teaching troops, the president and Washington committees war tactics.
This professor (and the so-called educators he represents) mocks patriotism.
Unfortunately, this campus cult is growing in number, ignoring the teachings of traditional values as they all strive for tenure.
