The 49th annual Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw (DALMAC) bicycle tour is a chance for cyclists from all over to tour the state of Michigan on routes that range from five days to two days.
Lake Orion resident Bruce Walter will be one of these cyclists, taking on the Five Day West route. This route will begin on Aug 28 at the Michigan State University campus and end on Sept. 1 in Mackinaw City.
During this time, Walter will have ridden between 338 and 354 miles.
Walter has participated in 27 DALMACs prior to this ride.
DALMAC was founded in 1971 by former State Sen. Dick Allen in attempt to “develop an appreciation of bicycling as both recreation and transportation, to promote a bicycle-friendly environment in Michigan and to demonstrate how bicycles and other vehicles can safely share our state roads,” said DALMAC representatives. – M.K.
