Boyfriend assaults girlfriend for coming home late

A Pontiac man was arraigned in court after punching his Orion Township girlfriend because she returned home late, a sheriff’s office report stated.

Deputies went to Canary Hill Drive at 6:42 a.m. Oct. 19 when a 22-year-old woman said her 21-year-old boyfriend started yelling at her because she returned home late.

The woman went to her room and went to sleep, but a short time later she heard a loud noise and woke up with her boyfriend standing next to her. He then punched her in the face.

Deputies interviewed both and, based upon the victim’s statements and the physical evidence, the suspect was arrested for domestic assault and was safely transported and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a complaint for Domestic Violence. The warrant was sworn to in front of Magistrate Holt from the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills.

The man was arraigned and given a $2,000 personal bond.

Suspect steals health, beauty items

Authorities are looking for a woman who stole health and beauty items from Menards on Brown Road on Oct. 18.

An employee informed deputies at 12:49 p.m. Oct. 19 that the suspect entered the store and went to the health and beauty section.

The suspect selected several items, taking them out of the packages and concealing the items on her person, then exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items.

All information has been turned over to detectives to continue the investigation.

Woman is no Ace, but walks right out the store with hardware merch

Deputies searched for, but were unable to find, a woman who allegedly stole hundreds of dollars of goods from the ACE Hardware store on Baldwin Road around 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 22.

The woman reportedly fled the store with $211.98 worth of merchandise. When deputies arrived, they searched the area for the suspect but did not locate the suspect.

The store manager said the woman entered the store, selected two items off the shelf and immediately walked out of the store without attempting to pay.

The suspect possibly fled the area in a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man is given a chance to do the right thing, but drove drunk anyway

A couple having an argument at Canterbury Village, 2359 Joslyn Court, at 11:21 p.m. Oct. 22 were given an opportunity to get a ride home, but chose to drink and drive instead.

Deputies went to Canterbury and ascertained that the couple was under the influence of alcohol. Both admitted to drinking at the venue.

The couple were advised to leave their vehicle in the lot and get a ride home.

Deputies later saw the couple leave the parking lot in their vehicle. They stopped the vehicle and administered field sobriety tests.

The driver of the vehicle failed the tests and was given a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), which yielded a result of .175 BAC. A BAC of .08 is considered legally drunk in Michigan.

The driver, a 40-year-old Warren man, was arrested and taken to a local hospital for a blood draw.

He was later safely taken to the Oakland County Jail and released in the morning. This case is pending lab results.

Woman drives through the grass at Canterbury to get to the road

Deputies were doing routine patrol near Canterbury Village, 2359 Joslyn Court, at 12:10 a.m. Oct. 23 and witnessed a pickup truck drive from the parking lot, through the grass, then onto Joslyn Road.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and, during their interactions, believed the woman driving the vehicle to be under the influence.

She failed field sobriety tests.

Deputies attempted to give the woman a Preliminary Breath Test but she refused.

The driver, a 43-year-old Wixom resident, was arrested and taken to a local hospital for a blood draw.

She was later safely taken to the Oakland County Jail and released in the morning.

This case is pending lab results.

Man accidentally shoots himself

An Orion Township man was treated after accidentally shooting himself while clearing his 9mm handgun.

Deputies went to the 4000 block of Bandury Drive at 9:44 a.m. Oct. 23 after a 57-year-old man shot himself in his left palm.

There were no signs of foul play, and deputies located the spent bullet, a report stated.

The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The LOPD is searching for man who unlawfully went into a home

Lake Orion police are investigating a report of a man who unlawfully entered a home on Evergreen Trail around 8:51 a.m. Oct. 19.

The homeowner was alerted by a motion security camera that a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans was in the home.

Police checked the home and the area but the suspect had left. Nothing appears to be missing from the home.

Anyone with information about the suspect should contact the Lake Orion Police Department.

Minor injuries in traffic crash

There were minor injuries in a three-vehicle traffic crash at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16 on S. Broadway Street near Converse Court.

A Chevy Trailblazer struck the rear of a pickup truck and that truck was pushed into the back of another pickup truck.

Another accident on M-24

A black Dodge hit the rear of another Dodge vehicle on S. Broadway Street near Heights Road around 7:30 a.m. Oct. 22.

There were no injuries reported.

Oxford man is arrested on LOPD narcotics possession warrant

Lake Orion police requested that Village of Oxford police pick up a 43-year-old Oxford man who had a warrant for narcotics possession out of the Lake Orion Police Department.

The man was arrested at his home and taken to the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills for arraignment.

Erratic driver on M-24 is under the influence of drugs

Lake Orion police received a notice to be on the lookout for an erratic driver heading northbound on M-24.

The vehicle was reportedly south of the village.

A Lake Orion police officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle near Church Street and began following the vehicle, which continued to drive erratically.

The officer stopped the vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Metamora man, who admitted to taking drugs. The driver was tested and transported to the hospital for a blood draw.

Charges against the man could be issued after the drug test results are finished.

Red lights and stationary cars mean STOP: another accident on M-24

There was another traffic crash on M-24, this time near Flint Street.

Around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 22, a vehicle stopped at a red light was rear ended by a vehicle that failed to stop.

There were minor injuries reported.

LOPD is searching for white Jeep that damaged parking area

Lake Orion police are investigating a Turfing property damage incident that occurred around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 23 on Bellevue Island.

A white Jeep with its lights off was reportedly “tearing up the overflow parking area on Bellevue Island.”

The Jeep left southbound toward Heights Road. Officers checked the area but the Jeep had fled before they arrived.

Police are investigating.
