Lake Orion’s inaugural, one day Oktoberfest on Friday was a success, with patrons filling the event venue to listen to polka music, sample German cuisine and beer and play a variety of games themed toward the Bavarian-inspired event.
And eat tacos.
The Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority hosted Oktoberfest in Children’s Park parking lot from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, a trial run to help with planning for a larger event next year, organizers said.
Oktoberfest included music from German band Die Dorfmusikanten (The Village Players), a beer stein holding contest and the Flickin’ Chicken Challenge. The beer slide challenge, courtesy of Ed’s Broadway Gift & Costume, went over well with guests of all ages.
And yes, there was a taco truck at Oktoberfest, provided by local entrepreneur Garrett Hoffman – and tacos always go over well. Even with Bratwurst. – J.N.
