Drunk driver arrested at Culver’s restaurant drive thru

Deputies received information to be on the lookout for a possible intoxicated driver at the drive thru at Culver’s Restaurant at 8:43 p.m. March 27.

Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and contacted the driver. The investigation revealed the driver had been drinking and he displayed signs of intoxication.

The driver, a 41-year-old Portland, Oregon resident, refused a breathalyzer test. When deputies attempted to arrest the driver, he resisted.

Additional deputies arrived and the driver was taken into custody without injury and placed under arrest for Operating while Intoxicated and transported to the hospital for a blood draw.

The driver was transported to the Oakland County Jail without incident.

Teen gets scammed by online seller

A 16-year-old boy went into the Orion Township substation at 11:20 a.m. March 29 and told authorities that he was on the website OfferUp looking into a 5-disk PlayStation.

The teen started a conversation with the suspect /seller and agreed to purchase the PlayStation.

The suspect requested the victim send the money through Zella – Chase Payment and he would send a copy of the FedEx receipts.

Once the victim received a copy of the receipts, he checked the tracking number and found it didn’t exist. The victim felt that he had been a victim of a fraud.

All information was turned over to detectives to continue the investigation.

Theft of medications

Deputies were dispatched to 121 Waterview Drive for a larceny complaint at 1:33 p.m. March 31 and met with a supervisor who said that several medications were missing.

All information was collected and turned over to detectives.

Thieves cut parts off of a truck while it’s in the condo parking lot

Some brazen thieves struck at a condo complex, taking the time to cut auto parts off a man’s vehicle while it was in the condo parking lot.

Deputies went to the 3200 block of Baldwin Square Drive at 8:43 a.m. April 1 and a 50-year-old resident informed them that he parked his vehicle in the parking lot of his condo at approximately 5 p.m. on March 31.

However, when he returned to the vehicle on April 1, he noticed that the muffler was lying on the ground underneath the truck.

Further inspection revealed that someone cut and removed the catalytic converter from the vehicle.

All information was gathered and turned over to detectives.

Orion Twp. woman is a victim of online fraud, fake deposit

An Orion Township woman went into the Orion Township substation to file a fraud complaint at 3:15 p.m. April 1.

The woman received an email from an unknown person stating that a large deposit was made into her account by accident.

The email continued that the victim would need to go to the bank and make a withdrawal and mail the money back to him.

Once the victim sent the money, she realized it was possible a fraud and contacted deputies. All information was gathered and turned over to detectives.

Couple gets into a fight at Checkers restaurant drive thru

Deputies responded to the parking lot of Checkers restaurant at 6:08 p.m. April 1 where Auburn Hills police were with a 21-year-old woman who said she was assaulted by her boyfriend.

The woman said that she was with her 20-year-old boyfriend and that they had been arguing all day. He allegedly grabbed her earlier in the day and forced her head into the seat.

The woman told deputies that the two became involved in a physical confrontation while in the drive through at Checkers.

As she attempted to get out of the vehicle, her boyfriend reportedly grabbed her, trying to force her back into the vehicle.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the boyfriend.

All information and photos were collected and turned over to detectives.

Lapeer man arrested after impaired driving accident, resisting arrest

Two men are in trouble with the law and one went to jail after driving under the influence and then attempting to flee from sheriff’s deputies.

The incident happened around 11:52 a.m. April 2 in the Silverbell and Lapeer roads area.

Deputies were conducting a traffic stop when they saw a pickup truck driving recklessly. They cleared the traffic stop and followed car parts and track marks in the roadway until they discovered the pickup truck off the roadway, with missing tires.

When deputies pulled up, two men who were standing outside of the vehicle took off running on foot. Deputies commanded the men to stop but they refused and continued to flee deputies, who were able to apprehend both suspects after a brief foot pursuit.

It was determined that the driver of the pickup truck, a 22-year-old Lapeer man, was under the influence of either narcotics or alcohol.

The man continued to resist deputies from the time of the arrest to the hospital where deputies got a search warrant for the suspect’s blood.

The Lapeer man was then transported to the Oakland County Jail where he was released the following day.

Deputies were unable to locate what the driver collided with to cause the vehicle damage. Charges are pending the blood results.

Third times a charm: Deputies arrest repeat drinking and driving offender

Deputies stopped a vehicle at 1:21 a.m. April 4 in the area of Lapeer and Greenshield roads when the vehicle drove through a stop sign.

Upon contact with the driver, a 51-year-old Orion resident, deputies could detect the strong odor of intoxicants. The man admitted to consuming alcohol.

Field sobriety tests were administered but the driver could not perform the tests properly and a preliminary breath test revealed he was well above the legal limit.

A Law Enforcement Information Network check revealed the man had two prior convictions for operating while intoxicated.

The man was arrested and transported to the hospital for a blood draw and then lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

Woman threatens to stab boyfriend during verbal argument

Deputies responded to the 2900 block of Brookside at 11:32 a.m. April 4 for a domestic assault complaint when a 21-year-old Orion Township man told authorities that he and his girlfriend were arguing when the girlfriend grabbed a kitchen knife.

The girlfriend, a 20-year-old resident of Orion Township, grabbed a knife from the dishwasher and threatened to stab her boyfriend, who was able to disarm the suspect but received a small cut to his hand in the process.

The suspect was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending a review of charges by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lake Orion police stopped a speeding vehicle on northbound M-24 near Church Street at 3:29 a.m. March 29 and discovered the driver’s license was suspended.

The driver was arrested, booked and released with a court appearance ticket.

U-turn leads to accident on M-24

A driver made an illegal U-turn on M-24 and caused an accident at 2:15 p.m. March 29.

The driver was headed northbound on M-24 and made the U-turn near Smith Court. After making the turn on to southbound M-24, the driver changed lanes and struck another vehicle.

There were no reported injuries.

Fight breaks out in downtown LO

Lake Orion police were called at 6:50 p.m. April 2 when a few men decided to solve their differences by fighting in the street.

The fight occurred near the Shadbolt and Broadway Streets intersection in downtown Lake Orion.

There were minor injuries reported in the altercation. Police are investigating.

Man gets arrested after deciding against keeping his court date

A 60-year-old Lake Orion man is in more trouble after failing to appear in court on a driving on a suspended license charge.

Lake Orion police arrested the man around 7 p.m. April 2. He was released with new information on appearing in court on the charges.

Late night/early morning craving could land woman in jail

Lake Orion police are investigating a shoplifting complaint after two women allegedly stole some beer from a business on S. Broadway Street at 4:26 a.m. April 3.

The women entered the store and one woman grabbed the alcohol and left without attempting to pay.

Man passes out on a pile of lumber

While on patrol at 2:48 p.m. April 3, a Lake Orion police officer saw a man slumped over a pile of lumber on S. Broadway Street.

The officer discovered the Lake Orion man had a high blood alcohol content and called Orion Township firefighter/EMT personnel. The man was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
