Lake Orion High School’s boys basketball team competed in district play last week, kicking off the competition with a 61-33 victory over Waterford Kettering on March 23.
Lake Orion jumped out to an early 19-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 31-10 at the half.
LO junior Alden Ritt scored a game-high 22 points for the Dragons and senior Nick Fisher added eight points. For the captains, senior Bennie Crenshaw had 15 points and Chris Sanford chipped in five.
“We knew our defense would travel after our 10-day pause; we were just really concerned about our offense and execution,” said LO Head Coach Joel Schroeder. “Alden did a great job coming out aggressive and getting us going. We are excited to move on and really look forward to playing Clarkston on Thursday.
“Our guys played well today. I am really proud of them,” said Schroeder.
The boys moved on to take on their Clarkston falling to the Wolves 35-45 on March 25.
Leading the Dragons in scoring was Malachi Grandberry with 12 points, Xander Blackney contributing eight and Ritt adding seven.
The Dragons finish the season 11-3 overall and share the first-place spot in the OAA Blue with Troy Athens, both teams were 5-1.
