Woman ignores ban, returns to store
Deputies responded to Menards, 465 Brown Road, at 12:50 p.m. April 15 for a retail fraud.
A loss prevention employee witnessed a shopper select two video doorbell cameras and put them in her purse. The shopper passed all points of purchase and exited the store.
Loss prevention identified themselves outside the store and escorted the suspect into the loss prevention office to wait for police.
Deputies identified the Pontiac woman, 44, who had been previously banned from entering Menards stores due to thefts.
The woman was cited for retail fraud 3rd degree and trespassing. She was released at the scene with new court dates.

Woman gets lost leaving the bar
Deputies responded to multiple calls of a possible drunk driver seen traveling southbound on Lapeer Road (M-24) at 7:46 p.m. April 17.
When deputies located the vehicle on Autumn Lane, the driver was passed out. Deputies identified the driver as a Romeo woman, 27.
The woman smelled of alcohol intoxicants and had slurred speech. She admitted to police that she left the bar and believed she was driving toward Romeo.
The driver was unable to complete sobriety tests as instructed. She submitted to a PBT (preliminary breath test) registering .177 BAC (blood alcohol content).
The woman refused to give a blood sample so deputies obtained a warrant signed by a judge for her blood.
The woman was transported to the hospital for the blood draw and then lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending blood analysis.

Woman tries unsuccessfully to throw off theft by paying for an item
Deputies responded to Kohl’s, 4872 S. Baldwin Road, at 2:58 p.m. April 17 for a retail fraud in-progress. They staged themselves in the parking lot, awaiting Kohl’s loss prevention to make contact with the suspect.
A Pontiac woman, 28, selected $501 worth of clothing and went into the dressing room. She removed the tags and concealed the items in a large purse. The woman made a small purchase and left the store without paying for the concealed merchandise.
When loss prevention attempted to stop the suspect outside, she fled from employees. Deputies apprehended the suspect in the parking lot.
The merchandise was returned to the store.
Deputies are seeking a warrant for retail fraud 2nd degree through the prosecutor’s office.

Erratic driving gives her away
Deputies responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a silver Chrysler Town and Country Minivan that was driving erratically and almost striking other cars on the road.
Deputies located and stopped the vehicle in the K-mart parking lot (M-24 at Clarkston Road) at 11:07 a.m. April 18.
The driver, an Oxford woman, 41, appeared highly intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and was slurring her speech.
The woman was unable to complete sobriety tests as instructed.
She was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.

Women keep police busy this week
Deputies responded to the area of Brown and Joslyn roads at 10:47 p.m. April 19 on a report of property damage.
When deputies made contact with the responsible driver, it was evident that she was under the influence of alcohol.
The woman, 23, admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving.
She was taken to a nearby hospital for a blood draw and then lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.

Thief leaves a message while woman is doing bench presses
A Lake Orion woman, 57, went into the sheriff’s substation at 8:37 p.m. April 20 to report her purse was stolen from her vehicle while parked outside Planet Fitness Gym, 1101 S. Lapeer Road.
The woman told officers that when she returned to her vehicle after completing her workout at 5:45 p.m. that day, she discovered a message on her control panel/dashboard stating, “attempted theft.”
She had arrived at the gym at 4:30 p.m.
The woman then noticed her purse was missing from under the driver’s seat. She said that her vehicle was locked at the time of theft.
Deputies observed no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.
This incident is under investigation.

Man speeds himself right to jail
Deputies observed a vehicle traveling 93 mph in a 55 mph zone on northbound Lapeer Road (M-24) approaching Clarkston Road at 12:30 a.m. April 18.
Deputies caught up to the vehicle as it was traveling 72 mph in a 45 mph zone near Atwater Street and safely stopped the vehicle.
Deputies suspected the driver, a Southfield man, 29, was under the influence of drugs. The driver was unable to complete sobriety tests as instructed.
There was a strong odor of marijuana and, during an inventory search, deputies located approximately 3-5 pounds of marijuana and 10 vials of marijuana hash oil, along with an unknown white crystal substance in the vehicle.
The driver refused a PBT so deputies obtained a warrant for the man’s blood from a judge.
The driver was transported to the hospital and a blood draw was completed.
The man was then lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending blood analysis and analysis of the white crystal rock.

Woman loses control when husband refuses access to his phone
Deputies responded to the 20 block of Bluebird Hill at 6:57 p.m. April 21 for a domestic assault in-progress.
A Pontiac man, 30, reported that his wife assaulted him, damaged his vehicle, rendering it inoperative, and then fled the scene in her vehicle.
Deputies located the suspect, an Orion Township woman, 27, on Brown Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The investigation revealed that the two had been separated for over a year and when the wife demanded to see the husband’s phone, he refused. The woman became upset and attempted to wrestle the phone away from him.
She also bit her husband on the hand and arm, and scratched his face, in the process.
The woman damaged the truck by throwing bottles at it, and then entering the truck to remove fuses, causing the vehicle to be inoperable.
When the woman heard her husband calling the police she fled in her vehicle.
Deputies photographed the scene and conducted interviews. They located broken bottles that were used in the assault and logged them into evidence.
The woman was placed under arrest for domestic assault and lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending prosecutor review.

Stick to the recommended dosage
Lake Orion Police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a doctor’s office at 1:44 p.m. April 15 for a patient that had accidentally overdosed on pain medication.
The officer arrived and assisted the medical staff in providing Narcan that revived the patient who was transported to a local hospital for additional treatment.

Issues with vehicle is the least of this man’s problems
An LOPD officer on patrol at 9:54 p.m. April 17 observed a vehicle stopped half on the roadway of E. Flint Street.
The driver told the officer he was experiencing vehicle problems on his way home. The officer detected signs of intoxication and tested the driver who failed sobriety tests.
The Orion Township man, 59, had a BAC of .29.
He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and lodged at the Oakland County Jail; his vehicle was impounded.

Recipe for jail: speed while drunk
An officer on patrol at 12:01 a.m. April 20 observed a vehicle speeding on south bound S. Broadway (M-24) and stopped the vehicle.
The driver, a Dearborn MI man, 28, was emitting a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath and had slurred speech.
The driver was asked to perform roadside sobriety tests which he failed. His BAC registered a .15.
The man was arrested for operating while under the influence and lodged at the Oakland County Jail; his vehicle was impounded.

Woman gets her license returned
A good samaritan saw and recovered a Michigan driver’s license laying in the roadway of a residential street.
It was brought to the LOPD at 1:43 p.m. April 21. The license was owned by a Lake Orion woman.
An officer located the owner and returned her property.
