Young artist has own show at CCS

Not many Lake Orion High School seniors can boast that they have had their own art showing, but Brandon Scott can.
Scott, who will be showing off his work at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit through Feb. 27, was a winner this year of the Scholastic Merit Award for art. The CCS show is part of his award, and features his best in show portfolio.
‘It took lots of hours of dedication,? Scott said. ‘They are all drawings I did in school.?
Scott’s show features eight of his portfolio pieces and another piece that received an individual award. Scott said he took an interest in art at a very young age, but gave it up for a short time.
‘I think I started drawing at about two years old,? he said. ‘I was out of it for a few years before high school.?
Scott said he doesn’t know of any other artists in his family, although he said it’s been rumored he’s the descendent of an artist.
‘I like oil painting best…I do whatever comes to mind,? he said. ‘I like to express a lot of ideas, my thoughts.?
Scott’s favorite things to paint are people.
‘I’ve taken almost every art class offered at school, and I’m president of the art club,? he said. ‘I also help organize field trips to galleries.?
Scott is inspired by late painter Bob Ross, among others.
‘I admire (Leonardo) da Vinci and I like Andy Warhol,? he said.
Scott hopes to attend CCS and study fine arts after he graduates from LOHS.
‘I’m not really sure of a career yet, but I’m thinking about education,? he said.
