X-country teams finish 2nd, 3rd in jamboree

It was another solid effort for the boys and girls cross country teams during the second Oakland Activities Association Red division Jamboree on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The girls finished in second place behind Birmingham Seaholm, who won the event with 43 points. Oxford finished with 88 points.
Sophomore Brooke Kovacic finished second overall with her time of 18:39. She crossed the line 7 seconds behind Jamie Morrissey of Rochester Adams, who finished with a time of 18:32.
Other top finishers for the Wildcats include seniors Chelsea Johnson and Brittany Johnson. Chelsea finished ninth with a time of 19:41, while finished 11th with 19:45.
Rounding out the top seven for the girls include freshmen Jenna Feeney (28th; 20:55), Sabrina Smith (38th; 21:29), sophomore Kristen Godwin (40th; 21:31) and junior Abby Wrobel (45th; 21:41).
The girls received six medals on the day.
The boys placed third in their jamboree, finishing with a total of 96 points. Clarkston won the jamboree with 59 points, with Lake Orion coming in second with 68 points.
All the boys in Oxford’s top seven medaled.
Junior Ryan Gillespie led the Wildcats with a sixth place finish in a time of 16:43. Senior Alec Smith finished 11th (17:06) and sophomore Joey Ufolla finished 21st (17:30).
Other medalists include juniors Ross Chapman (23rd; 17:32), Aaron Pletta (35th; 17:54), sophomores Ricky Dvorak (36th; 17:59) and Noah Jenkins (39th; 18:02).
