Woman arrested in delivery van theft

Thanks to an alert neighbor, a Lake Orion woman is in jail for stealing a delivery van from the Lake Orion Nursing Center on Flint Street on May 21.
Siobhan Kelly, 22, was arrested in the Bunny Run area after a man reported a suspicious vehicle. She was charged with auto theft at her arraignment on May 22 at Rochester’s 52/3 District Court.
According to LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh, the driver of the van failed to follow company procedures. He left the van unlocked and running while making his deliveries.
Witnesses saw the van driving away at 3:20 a.m. while the driver was on the third floor of the facility. A description on the vehicle was put out on the LEIN network.
About 10 minutes after the theft, a homeowner observed a suspicious van in a neighbor’s driveway rocking back and forth. Responding Oakland County Sheriff deputies arrived at the home and arrested Kelly who was near the vehicle.
When deputies checked the van, they found a 13 inch butcher knife.
Kelly has been charged with three felonies, unlawfully driving away, receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Her preliminary exam is May 29.
‘The whole thing was good timing,? Narsh said. ‘It shows the value of sharing information between departments. It was a good joint arrest by officers of both departments.?
