Wolves tear up Knights

The ‘wolf pack? of Clarkston High showed no mercy to the Lahser Knights as they defeated them 21-0, taking their record to 6-0.
Kurt Richardson, Clarkston High School varsity football head coach, was not happy with his team’s performance despite the win, and said they need to work on ‘everything? over the next week.
‘I thought Lahser played very strong and a very good game,? he said.
The Wolves defense was able to force the Knights to punt early in the game. However, the Lahser’s defense seemed to handle their own as they forced the Wolves to punt. No points were scored in the first quarter.
The Wolves finally put six points on the board after an interception and 27-yard run by T.J. Lawson with 6:32 remaining in the second quarter, followed by an extra point.
After the Knights received the ball from the kickoff, the Wolves defense went to work once again, forcing them to punt the ball. But after four downs, the Wolves brought out the punting team with three minutes left in the second quarter.
After a fake punt, the Wolves were able to gain another first down and work the ball up the field until Erik Thompson was able to gain a touchdown with 1:16 remaining in the second quarter. The wolves went into halftime up 14-0.
In the third quarter, after four downs and 10 minutes to go, Adam Sharp was able to get in front of the ball for a punt block. As the Wolves advanced up the field looking for another touchdown, the Knights were able to stop the attack with an interception.
The Wolves? Alex Popp was able to get the ball back with another interception. However, the Wolves were unable to capitalize on the opportunity and were once again forced to punt, with 5:18 left in the third quarter.
Later in the third, Clarkston’s Adam Koelb was able to recover the ball after Lahser threw a bad snap over quarterback Tyler Gust’s head. Lahser brought the third quarter to an end after Michael Jackson intercepted a pass thrown by Clarkston’s Tyler Scarlett.
As the Knights entered the fourth quarter hoping to put points on the board, their hopes were defeated as the Wolves? Julius Porter intercepted a pass with eight minutes remaining in the fourth.
After battling back and fourth, the Wolves were able to capitalize with six more points after a 30-yard rushing touchdown by Chad Blackstone.
‘Clarkston is one hell of a team,? said Lahser Head Coach Dan Loria. ‘We ask our guys to play hard for 48 minutes each week and that’s what they did tonight.?
The Clarkston Wolves will battle Troy High School Friday, Oct. 5, at their Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 6:55 p.m.
