Oxford School Board incumbents Judy Kubina and Carol Mitchell-Bliemeister reclaimed their board seats by a landslide in Tuesday’s elections.
Only 405 of the 14,148 registered voters, a mere three percent of the district’s voting population, participated in the election. Mitchell-Bliemeister received a total of 290 votes (260 at the OES site and 30 at the Leonard), while Kubina received 279 (255 at OES and 24 at Leonard).
Candidate Lisa Marie Baum received 102 votes (88 at OES and 14 at Leonard) and candidate Linda Simlar received 84 (72 at OES and 12 at Leonard).
‘I’m speechless and relieved,? said Mitchell-Bliemeister in regards to her victory. ‘I’m very excited to begin work again. I’m also grateful to all those who came out and voted.?
Judy Kubina couldn’t agree more.
‘I’m excited that the community backed me and felt that I’m doing good work,? she stated. ‘I’m ready to do another four years for our children.?
Both women said they are looking forward to the upcoming school year ? especially the official opening of the new high school.
‘That is one awesome facility,? Kubina said.
