The Lake Orion Village Council canceled its regular meeting on Monday due to lack of a quorum.

The agenda items will be moved to the next regular council meeting, which is on Nov. 12 because Monday is Veterans Day, said village Manager Joe Young.

CDBG Funds

There is a public hearing on Nov. 12 for the village’s use of its designated Community Development Block Grant funds for program year 2020. The village is estimated to receive $9,333 in CDBG funds.

Thirty percent of the funds, $2,799, can be allocated for public services, according to village documents.

Haven has made a request for $2,500 for services for its victims of domestic violence/dating violence/sexual assault/stalking program.

Oxford/Orion FISH has requested funds for its Emergency Services Program to help families with food, utility and rent/mortgage assistance.

Village administration has recommended that $2,799 of its CDBG funds be allocated to FISH or Haven, and $6,534 be allocated for village code enforcement.

DDA TIF plan

The village will also hold a public hearing on Nov. 12 on the Downtown Development Authority’s proposed Tax Increment Financing and capital improvement plans.

This is the fourth proposed amendment to the TIF and capital improvement plan. The DDA has developed a 20-year capital improvement plan, said DDA Executive Director Molly LaLone.

There will be a second public hearing the plans during the council’s Nov. 25 meeting and possible adoption of the plan is scheduled for the council’s Dec. 9 meeting.

The plan can be viewed at downtownlakeorion.org.
