Village budget reflects lower revenues, costs

Goodrich – Village officials will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2008-09 budget at 7 p.m., June 9 at the village office, lower level, 7338 S. State Road.
The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the budget will be discussed. The budget is reflecting a reduction in both revenues and appropriations.
Village Administrator Jakki Sidge said there are good reasons for the lower figures.
‘Property taxes have gone down,? she said. ‘The assessor at the township reduced the assessment, which reduces the taxable value, so we will not be collecting as much money. The recalculation of the assessments is done by the township assessor.?
The reduction of appropriations has occurred, Sidge said, because there are no projects planned for the 2008-09 years.
‘All projects this council and previous councils have reviewed and applied for grant money for, have all been completed. That makes a difference as far as what is the bottom line,? she said.
‘If anyone wants to learn more about the village budget, this meeting would be a great opportunity to do that,? said Sidge.
Copies of the proposed budget are available now at the village office.
