The Oxford varsity boys track team’s win against Brandon last Tuesday night may be the start of a winning streak.
The boys defeated Brandon 78-60, taking first place in almost all of the track and field events.
On track, senior Todd Davidson placed first in the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter run and in the 3200-meter relay.
Coach Andrew McDonald called Davidson ‘a senior that has come into the season in great shape and is leading the team in a very positive way.?
Senior Adam Richmond, who is considered one of the top distance runners in the league, also placed first in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs and 3200-meter relay.
Sophomore James Nelson took second in the 100-meter dash, first in the 1600-meter relay and first in the 200-meter dash.
On field, senior Andrew Klimbal took first in the long jump.
The girl’s team gave an outstanding effort but lost 84-53 against Brandon.
Freshman Hannah George placed first in the 400-meter dash, senior Nicole Esman placed third in discus and sophomore Jacqui Sylva placed first in the 100-meter dash.
‘I am very pleased with the meet performances of the girls after 10 days off due to Spring Break,? coach McDonald said.
The track teams take on Clio at home on Thursday at 4 p.m.
