Touring Clarkston’s history

The rain this weekend soaked tour groups moving from home to home, but more than 800 still came out to the 2007 Clarkston SCAMP Home Tour.
‘The rain didn’t stop people from coming,? said volunteer tour guide Diane Midgley. ‘That’s a tribute to the success of this tour.?
Ten families opened their historic homes to the tour.
‘It’s great to see so many houses on Main Street on the tour,? said SCAMP volunteer Bruce Robertson, showing groups a parlor from the 1830s.
The home tour is the biggest fund raiser for the SCAMP summer camp for multiply impaired children and young adults.
SCAMP 2007 is set for June 18-July 19 at Independence Oaks County Park. More than 350 children are expected at the five-week day camp.
