‘Mommy, I love you,? sang a group of Clear Lake Elementary first-graders to their mothers on the Thursday before Mother’s Day.
As a part of their unit on etiquette and manners, teacher Deborah Morse organized a Mother’s Day Tea Party, complete with finger sandwiches, cookies, punch and chocolate covered strawberries.
Students were dressed to the nines ? girls with white lace gloves and pearls; boys with dress shirts and ties. The occasional party hat made an appearance as well.
‘I’m a pearl girl,? laughed Mrs. Morse, who was also dressed in pearls and a hat.
The students recited poetry they wrote in honor of their mothers, sang songs, and then served food and punch.
The first-graders also potted small plants and gave them to their mothers.
