With the greatest possible respect to the five other candidates competing for the four open positions on our Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education, I would like to publicly endorse three candidates in particular, namely Scott Taylor, Danielle Bresett and Misty Morris.

Since their qualifications and responses have already been highlighted in this newspaper recently, I would like to express my thoughts and share my reasoning for supporting these candidates.

We need a school board that will keep the “public” in public education.

From personal experience, I am convinced that Taylor, Bresett, and Morris will be mindful in their own accountability to our community, specifically regarding our return on school investment.

Not all students have the same needs. Taylor, Bresett, and Morris will ensure our school programs and resources will promote skills necessary to enable future success for ALL students.

It is critical that we elect people who represent the values of our community.

Taylor, Bresett, and Morris are responsible, approachable, candid, and comprehend that they are the voice of the people. They have a tremendous amount of equity and enthusiasm invested in our community. In fact, all three of them were raised in Lake Orion and are raising their own families here in Lake Orion.

They have an authentic passion to deliver for our community. Their voluntary involvement for years has connected them with all of the diverse members of our community. They understand the pulse, questions, and concerns of Lake Orion.

Current circumstances clearly demonstrate that school boards often deal with challenging judgements that need to be made.

Taylor, Bresett, and Morris will listen, educate, and prepare themselves for meetings and decisions, ask questions, and focus on the facts and data. They are fully invested in these decisions as their children attend our schools. They are strong and clear communicators and will keep the public informed of not only the progress, but also the trials, and the reasoning and analysis behind decisions.

Taylor, Bresett, and Morris represent the values of our community.

Please consider re-electing Scott Taylor, and electing Danielle Bresett and Misty Morris for Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education, as clear enablers of our future together.
