In the second annual ‘War on the Floor’ students vs. staff basketball game, held on Friday, March 30, the students came out ahead after defeating the teachers in a closely fought battle, 48-41. This year’s win for the students vindicated their loss after being beat by the teachers last year.
The closely matched game was refereed by Lake Orion High School Principal Todd Dunckley and Assistant Principals Darin Abbasse and Chris Bell.
‘War on the Floor’ is a charity game to benefit the Lake Orion Marching Band. The event raised about $1,200.
The variety of basketball skills was not the only thing to entertain the crowd, as special kid contests were run throughout the game. Second and third graders participated in a penguin run, and a free throw contest was held for kids to shoot for pizzas.
