Stand strong, make good choices

Feats of strength will be used at Gingellville Community Church over the weekend to remind young adults about the importance of making good choices.
‘The Stand Strength Team is a group of world class athletes using feats of strength to illustrate the powerful message of making right choices of anti-drugs, anti-alcohol, anti-violence, anti-steroids, etc.,? said Gingellville Community Church Pastor Denny Emmons.
‘Because as a church we believe we have a responsibility to help our youth in making right choices, we’ve asked the Stand Strength Team to hold meetings in our church.?
According to Stand Strength Founder Terry ‘Shrek? Nalian, the Stand Strength Team travels all over America to talk to young people about making the right choices about drugs, alcohol, violence, school and other choices.
‘We teach young people that they become champions in life,? he added. ‘We try to teach young people how special, important and valuable they are.?
Nalian said their mission is not only to work with the ‘youth of America,? but also with their families by promoting family unity and togetherness.
The Stand Strength Team will use ‘all different, very electrifying feats of strength? in their presentation, including smashing through things and heavy lifting, according to Nalian.
The team has visited public and private schools, youth camps and organizations, businesses, juvenile homes and prisons for eight years and has reached out to 2.8 billion people around the world.
Six full-time athletes and 14 part-time athletes make up the Stand Strength Team, and they all hold an array of qualifications, titles and skills. To read about the team, visit www.standstrengthteam.org.
The Stand Strenth Team will be presenting Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30 at 6 p.m. They will also be doing an abbreviated presentation at the church’s Sunday mass at 9:45 a.m. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
‘It is really a wonderful event for the whole family,? Nalian added.
The church is located at 3920 Baldwin.
