The scoreboard wasn’t the only place where the Dragons were hurting after a 5-1 loss at Rochester on May 16.
Things seemed to be in order when Lake Orion’s Jenna Hill scored to tie the game at one at the half.
But the injury bug doomed the Dragons. Goalkeeper Ashley Shugar was injured in the first half, and Hill was injured in the second half, opening the door for a huge Rochester finish.
Then, with Margaret Verespie filling in for Shugar in the net, the Dragons mustered a 0-0 tie at home against Rochester Adams.
Verespie, who played goal for LO last year, made eight stops to preserve the shutout.
The game was a preview of the first-round regional action set to take place at LOHS on May 30.
But before the playoffs begin, the Dragons have a few more tune-up opportunities, beginning with a contest against Birmingham Groves on May 20.
Leading goal scorer Rachel Bemman had two first half tallies to help put the Dragons ahead, 3-1, at the break.
But Groves stormed back to tie the contest at three a piece, setting the scene for Ashley Poirier’s game winner.
The victory, which included Verespie and Shugar splitting time in net, lifted the Dragons to 12-4-4 on the season.
