‘SLUMCity? benefit Christmas concert

Brandon Twp.- Concertgoers, rejoice.
A benefit Christmas concert presented by SLUMCity Coffeehouse is planned for 7:30 p.m., Dec. 14, at the Seymour Lake United Methodist Church Worship Fellowship Center, 3050 Sashabaw Road.
‘My hope is that people will come and be refreshed with the true Christmas spirit? by receiving the gift of music and helping those who are in need,? said SLUMC Pastor Debbie Line.
Tickets are $10 at the door, with all proceeds benefitting the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund and Love in the Name of Christ (Love, INC), both non-profit, charitable organizations.
Musicians slated for the concert include Bob Marshall, an Ortonville resident; Dan Hazlett, of Waterford; Robert Marr, of the Fenton area; Tom Mansell & Marilyn, a duo from Rochester; Robin Moore and Northstar, a Clarkston acoustic group; Ann and Will Rowland, an acoustic duo from Harbor Springs; and Foxfire, a Rochester duo that play guitar and auto harp.
Marshall has played professionally since 1973 and said all of the musicians have opened for national acts and stepped forward to help.
‘We’re really blessed in music and it’s nice to give back to people who have supported us,? he said.
The concert will consist entirely of Christmas music, some original songs, and some covers of favorites, including ‘Blue Christmas? and ‘Cowboy Christmas,? performed by Marshall. There will be no repeats and the groups will close by performing ‘Silent Night? together. The audience will be invited to participate throughout the concert.
‘I think it will be well-received,? Marshall said. ‘The musicians are all very good and talented. It should be a lot of fun.?
Refreshments offered include cookies and flavored coffees and teas.
