Shirley M.Walter (nee Theunick) of Lapeer, formerly of Lake Orion, passed away peacefully December 2, 2023. She was 95 years old.
Shirley was born in Pontiac, on October 9, 1928 to parents Louis and Fabiola (Fitzgerald) Theunick. She graduated Lake Orion High School class of 1946.
Shirley married her devoted and loving husband, John, on October 1, 1949, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion, where she was a lifelong and active member. John and Shirley shared 68 years together before his passing in 2017. She enjoyed baking, and was known for her delicious rolls, painting, crafts, and needlework, also her beloved West Highland terriers, and spending time at their cottage up north, but above all she cherished time spent with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by daughters Dawn (Michael) Duerr of Oxford, Robyn (Larry) Marsh of Metamora, grandchildren Breanne (Matthew) Kelty, Devin (Lisa) Duerr, great-grand children Mallory, Lea,Cole, Christian and Valerie, three sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and special cousin June Schlaud, and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, and brothers Gerald, Wallace, and James, and many beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in law.
Mass to be celebrated at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Humane Society, or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
