Drug use suspected in incident where man drove his vehicle off the roadway
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies suspect that a man was under the influence of drugs when he drove his vehicle off the roadway at the Clarkston and Lapeer roads intersection.
Deputies went to the intersection at 1:59 a.m. Jan. 10 after getting a 911 call that a vehicle drove off the roadway and the driver was slumped over the wheel.
When deputies arrived, they were able to get into the vehicle while the driver was still unconscious and took the vehicle out of gear and removed the keys from the ignition.
The driver was revived and identified as a 23-year-old Village of Leonard resident.
The man told deputies that he did not know where he was or where he was coming from.
Deputies suspected the man was suffering from a medical emergency or was under the influence of drugs and requested the Orion Township Fire Department for assistance.
The driver was unable to complete sobriety tests and submitted on a preliminary breath test with the results being 0.00 blood alcohol content.
The man was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment and deputies got a warrant for the man’s blood.
Charges are pending the blood results.

Orion Township man is arraigned on two domestic violence warrants
An Orion Township man was arraigned on two domestic violence warrants after allegedly dragging his girlfriend across the road on Jan. 10.
Deputies went to a home on the 100 block of Starling Hill Drive after getting a 911 call at 10:22 a.m. about a possible domestic assault.
A third-party caller reported a female victim was being dragged across the road by a male suspect.
Deputies located the suspect pacing outside a residence and it appeared the man was in a manic state, an incident report stated.
Deputies attempted to speak to the man and he began smashing his own head into the exterior of a trailer until he became unconscious.
An investigation revealed the 28-year-old man had just assaulted his 29-year-old girlfriend.
Orion Township firefighters transported the man to a local hospital for further medical clearance.
Based on the physical evidence at the scene and statements made the suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail for Domestic Assault after hospital clearance.
A complaint for Domestic Violence was authorized by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
The man was arraigned on the new charge and on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence on the same victim.

Thief gets nabbed after stealing from Kohl’s
Oakland County sheriff’s deputies are seeking a warrant for a Westland man, 50, who allegedly stole nearly $500 worth of merchandise from a local retailer.
Deputies went to Kohl’s, 4872 Baldwin Rd., at 7:26 p.m. Jan. 10 for a retail fraud after Kohl’s loss prevention employees reported that an unknown suspect came into the store and selected $485 worth of merchandise and concealed it into a black duffle bag.
The suspect left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.
Deputies were able to identify the suspect and are seeking a warrant from the man’s arrest through the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sheriff’s office investigates several vehicle break-ins
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of thefts after at least seven people reported that their vehicles were broken into on Jan. 12.
Deputies went to Palazzo di Bocce, 4291 S. Lapeer Road, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 after getting multiple Larceny from Automobile complaints.
Deputies identified five victims who reported that the windows of their vehicles were broken and items were stolen from their vehicles.
Deputies searched the area for suspects and evidence and were able to obtain security footage of the suspect, who is described as a white male wearing a gray or white hoodie sweatshirt.
Deputies also identified two additional victims at the 1100 block of Lapeer Rd, Planet Fitness, with vehicles broken into and items stolen.
This incident remains under investigation.

Theft from a vehicle at Clarkston Road home
Thefts from vehicles continue in the Clarkston Road area after a woman told deputies that someone stole several items from her vehicle.
A 26-year-old Orion Township woman went into the Orion Township Substation at 10 p.m. Jan. 13 to report that someone had stolen a large tan purse, backpack, wallet and other personal effects from her Ford Explorer.
The victim believed the items were stolen while the vehicle was parked in her driveway on the 400 block of Clarkston Road. There was no damage to the vehicle.
Detectives will follow up with the investigation. There currently are no suspects or witnesses.

Suspected narcotics found during traffic stop
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies are having suspected narcotics analyzed in a case involving a driver pulled over for traffic infraction.
While on patrol deputies stopped a vehicle on Lapeer and Brown roads for a traffic violation at 12:02 a.m. Jan. 15.
The 18-year-old driver was unable to produce any paperwork for the vehicle, and deputies requested the driver to exit the vehicle.
Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered suspected narcotics. The narcotics were confiscated and sent to the lab for analysts.
The driver was released at the scene, pending a lab report analysis.

Orion Twp. teen suspected in theft from party store
Oakland County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a theft from Rick’s on the Lake, 511 Heights Rd.
Deputies went to the market at 3:47 p.m. Jan. 15 after an employee reported that a 17-year-old Orion Township resident entered the store, selected two items and started to walk toward the exit.
When the employee attempted to stop the suspect, the teen fled on foot, never paying for the items.
All information was turned over to detectives.
