Pontiac woman ejected from car

A 20-year-old Pontiac woman suffered unspecified injuries after she was ejected from her car during an accident in Springfield Township on April 17
The woman drove a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on I-75 north of Dixie Highway at around 4:45 p.m. After losing control of the vehicle, she drove into the median and rolled over. The Springfield Township Fire Department transported the woman to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc in stable condition, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police.
As stated in the release, the woman did not appear to be wearing her seat belt and cell phone use may be a contributing cause to the accident. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
Lieutenant Gary Parsons of the Michigan State Police Groveland Post said the report did not show the woman was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt, but that a ticket could be pending. Parsons stated this is not unusual for an accident where the victim is transported to the hospital for injuries.
While Lt. Parsons could not say whether or not cell phone use was a definite cause, he did comment on the trends among drivers in general.
‘It seems to be more and more common. It just goes to show you need to be one hundred percent paying attention to driving and not talking on the phone. It only takes a second for your mind to wander? the next second you could be in a ditch or the rear end of a car,? said Parsons.
According to Parsons, the vehicle suffered extensive damage and was not drivable.
