Fire cadets from Oakland Community College visited Pine Tree Elementary on Monday, April 23.
They made 30-minute presentations to each class, informing the students about the importance of smoke alarms, how to “stop, drop and roll” and showed them what a fire fighter looks like in full equipment. Students even practiced crawling in a demonstration of what to do when there is some in the air.
The cadets also spent lunchtime and recess with the students, answering any questions they might have about fires and fire safety, not to mention, having a little fun playing kickball, basketball, soccer and tag.
Students were also given opportunities to spray water out of a fire house and get a tour of a fire truck.
