Nonprofit groups to benefit from new mortgages, refinances

‘Tis the season for giving.
That’s why Jude Cunningham, a loan officer at Oxford’s Towne Mortgage, has decided to give back to local nonprofit organizations.
Starting last week, Cunningham will donate $300 to any nonprofit organization, like Crossroads for Youth or the Oxford Lions Club for instance, each time an applicant closes on a mortgage or refinances through her.
Cunningham decided to make this generous offer to the public because it will simultaneously benefit both her business and the community.
‘I think it’s a great way to be able to give back to the community where I live, (especially) for the kids,? she said.
A 14-year resident of Oxford, Cunningham said nonprofit organizations, like OHS Boosters and the Oxford-Orion Kiwanis Club, are a necessary and vital part of the community.
Hence, all local groups like these will have an opportunity to benefit financially from her business transactions.
Each of Cunningham’s clients can now decide which local nonprofit group they would like to see receive the $300 donation.
The reason Cunningham chose to make the offer now is because of the increase in adjustable rate mortgages a few years ago.
‘A lot of those loans are coming due now,? she said. ?(It will) generate a lot of turnover where I can really make this worthwhile to a lot of these organizations.?
Towne Mortgage is located at 115 S. Washington Street in the Village of Oxford.
