New graduation venue selected, will be used for Class of 2008

For those interested in watching the Class of 2008 receive their diplomas next year, the Phoenix Center in Pontiac is where you will want to be.
According to School Board Member Janet Wolverton, who went with the high school to tour the facilities, Meadowbrook’s 2,200 seats were getting to be too few for graduates and their families. With the continually growing class size, it was only allowing two to three pavilion tickets per family.
‘We try to offer four (pavilion) tickets per family,? Wolverton said, noting that Phoenix Center will allow for that along with overflow seating on the lawn.
‘I was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating they are to our graduates,? she added, saying that they will be able to maintain their Friday graduation date.
Lake Orion High School’s Class of 2008 Commencement will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 7 p.m.
The Phoenix Center is located at 10 Waters Street in Pontiac.
