Betty Kozma of Independence Township received Oakland University’s Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award May 3, on the topic of Cultural Change and the Development of a Professional Learning Community.
“I think it’s quite an honor,” Betty said. “I’m absolutely honored to receive this award. The best part is that it can help other principals help children, especially those at risk.”
She and her husband, Lawrence Kozma, have a daughter, Kelley Kozma, completing her first year of residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois Advocate Christ Hospital in Chicago.
Kelley, graduate of Clarkston High School and University of Michigan, earned her medical degree May 5, 2007, from Michigan State University Osteopathic School of Medicine.
Betty, former Clarkston Community Schools administrator and administrator for L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, earned her Ph.D. from Oakland University two days later in the area of Educational Leadership.
