Former resident Rose Johnson is returning to Clarkston, looking for the area’s biggest loser.
Johnson, personal health coach and president of RJs Health for Life homebased business in Fenton, is organizing a Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge in the Clarkston area.
‘The goal is for people to feel good and look great,? said Johnson, who lived in Clarkston from 1998-2003. ‘The course will give accountability and education.?
The 10-week program, inspired by the television reality show, kicks off May 28, 7 p.m., at the Colombiere Retreat and Conference Center, 9075 Big Lake Road in Springfield Township. It will meet weekly, on Wednesdays, for private weigh-ins and instruction on fitness and nutrition.
Registration fee is $29. All the money goes into a pot for prizes.
Participants will weigh in privately each week. The three with the highest percentage of weight lost and one with most inches lost at the end of the course will win. Depending on participation, prizes could top $300, she said.
Also, every pound lost is good for a raffle ticket for weekly prizes. But every pound gained means $1 charged to the participant. Missing two or more sessions means a $5 charge.
Contestants can use any weight-loss program, or a customized plan developed for them. Each person will have a personal weight loss coach, Johnson said.
‘A fun competition like this is a very good motivator,? she said. ‘Soon, you are feeling better, losing weight and you’ve just got more energy.?
This will be her fourth contest, after two in Fenton and another in Grand Blanc.
‘The goal is to lose weight and keep it off,? she said.
The program is non-profit, but Johnson will be offering her Herbalife products for sale. She has been an independent distributor for the nutrition-supplement company for five years.
‘Health and nutrition has always been important to me,? she said. ‘I really like the products.?
