Curious to see how the Lake Orion middle schools are utilizing technology in classrooms?
Each of the three middle schools will host a Technology Showcase displaying examples of student projects from throughout the school year, said Rebecca Lowe, Scripps Middle School media specialist.
The showcases, presented by the schools’ media specialists, include projects that feature technology, collaboration and innovation. Student ambassadors will be on hand to explain their projects to the public.
The public is welcome to attend and experience some of the awesome technology that teachers are bringing to the classroom, see how students rose to the challenge and completed different tasks and talk to students to learn how these projects affected their learning, Lowe said.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, technology in classrooms expands course offerings, supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, builds 21st century skills, increases student engagement and motivation and accelerates learning, Lowe said.
The Scripps Middle School (385 E. Scripps Rd.) Technology Showcase is from 9:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. May 7 in the media center.
Waldon Middle School (2509 Waldon Rd.) hosts its event from 8-10 a.m. May 17 in the media center.
Oakview Middle School’s showcase is an online showcase and the video will be available on the Oakview website – www.lakeorion.k12.mi.us/oakview/home – starting on May 17. – J.N.
