Lake Orion’s girls’ track team captured a third-place finish out of 15 teams with 75 points at the Division 1 Regional Meet held Friday at the Dragon’s track.
They finished behind champion Clarkston with 98.5 points and second place Bloomfield Hills with 87 points. A total of 10 Lake Orion athletes qualified for the state meet at Hudsonville on June 4.
The lady Dragons were led by sophomore Colleen Campbell’s first place finish in the pole vault and sixth place in the High Jump.
Freshman Madison Eaton’s second place finishes in the 100 and 400 meter racers, and junior Taylor Eaton’s second place finish in the discus and third place in the shot put.
Also going to the state championships are MaKayle Allen, Sydney Johnson and Melissa Symons (and Madison Eaton) in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
Josie Arnold, Bellina Gaskie, Margeret Hastings and Rachel Zeile qualified in the 4 x 800 meter relay.
Those athletes that finish in first or second in their event or meet an additional qualifier are eligible for the state meet.
Colleen Campbell’s 11-foot pole value set a new school record and also tied the track record.
