The winner of this year’s Jacqui Milzow Scholarship Fund car raffle won’t need roads.
The all-black, fully loaded 208 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4-by-4 would do fine without them.
“We raffled sports cars before, which were especially attractive to women,” said Tammie White, banquet director at Deer Lake Banquet Center.
“This is attactive to both men and women. It’s a cute car.”
Dinner and raffle drawing is set for 8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 19, at Deer Lake Banquet Center, 6167 White Lake Road. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Only 1,000 tickets will be sold at $100 each. They provide a chance to win the Jeep, admission to the strolling dinner, a drink, and live entertainment.
Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the scholarship fund, a non-profit organization. This year, it will provide two scholarships to graduating Pontiac Northern High School students for college, as well as two scholarships for Pontiac Northern students to attend Michigan State University’s Osteo-Careers in Health and Medicine Program this summer.
The residential program prepares minority students for careers in health and sciences by setting them up with medical progrssional mentors through courses, workshops, and research.
The fund also plans to donate $5,000 to Clarkston SCAMP this summer.
The fund was created in 2006 in memory of Jacqui Milzow, 29-year teacher for Pontiac schools and co-founder of Deer Lake Athletic Club.
Tickets are available at Deer Lake. For more information, call 248-625-8686.
