Icers break even

After their loss to Kettering last week, the Wolves came back with strong focus.
‘We played more defensively, we got the puck out of our zone,? said Coach Bryan Krygier on his team’s 4-0 win, Dec. 5, over Stoney Creek.
‘We got the first goal, continued to build on it. I think we played a little better as a team, moved the puck better. We moved the puck. We had a man on the puck. We had an open guy coming through. In the Kettering game, we didn’t do this stuff. We came back to the drawing board, worked harder and got back to the basics.?
As the clock counted down to the last five minutes of the first period, the Wolves made three continuous attempts on goal.
A minute later, Adam Frank scored the first goal with assistance from John Frakes and Sean Hancock.
With 1:44 left in the period, Aaron Podbielski scored one more goal from the side of the goal. Chris Salo and Dan Smith assisted with the goal.
In the second period, the Wolves scored two more goals.
Cole Schaffer passed the puck to Frakes. While skating towards the Stoney Creek’s goal, Frakes hit the puck and sent it into the goal with 5:30 left in the period.
Three minutes later, Michael Fiteny took his opportunity and scored one more goal with help from Matt Campbell.
‘Garrett Knappe came up big for us from saves,? said Krygier.
Knappe blocked all nine of Stoney Creek’s shots on goal. Also, saved an attempt on goal by leaving the net and covering the puck before the Cougars could get to it.
The Wolves made 23 shots on Stoney Creek’s goal.
They played the Stoney Creek Cougars twice last year, tying one game and losing the other.

‘It was a disappointing loss. Plus, it’s a league loss. Hopefully they will respond.?
