Ice Dragons’ rollercoaster week

The Lake Orion hockey squad lost a heart-breaker to Oxford on Saturday when they couldn’t get anything past a hot goalie.
The Dragons had an amazing 11 power plays during the game but could not solve Wildcat goaltender Justin Gizinski, who made 33 saves for the 2-0 shutout win at the Onyx in Rochester.
Entering the third period Oxford held a 2-0 advantage and withstood a blistering attack by the Dragons as Lake Orion had five power plays in the period.
The loss dropped Lake Orion’s record overall to 4-7-3 and 0-2-2 in the OAA Red Division.
The Dragons had some luck the week before when they got past Grand Rapids Central, 3-2, at Bloomfield Hills.
The Dragons got goals from Josh Gould, Ryan Szydlowski and Kurt Latshaw. Goalkeeper Rollie Pouget recorded 12 saves for the Dragons.
