The Varsity Wrestling team got the season started off right after beating Lance Creuse North and rival Lake Orion on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
The Wildcats started off slow in their opening match against Lance Creuse, falling behind 9-0 before they traded pinfalls in the 215-lb division and the heavyweight division.
After that, the Wildcats began to roll, taking eight out of the ten matches en route to a 45-22 victory.
The momentum carried over into the much anticipated match-up against Lake Orion.
The match looked to be over early as the Wildcats jumped out to a 21-3 lead.
However, Lake Orion never quit and the Wildcats finally slew the Dragons in the second to last match, preserving the 33-25 victory.
The next chance for the boys to wrestle is Dec. 9 at Hartland High School.
