Going wireless

Over the last decade or so, people without cell phones have become a rarity.
Based off this trend, Ruby Kaskorkis hopes his new store, Allstar Wireless does well on Dixie Highway.
Kaskorkis opened his Allstar Wireless franchise three weeks ago and believes the area offers much opportunity for the chain. His family has been investing in the franchise for about five or six years.
‘It looked like a really nice area. The building is nice and is just off Dixie and I don’t think there’s a lot of competition for the services we provide out here,? said Kaskorkis.
‘There’s a wide variety of people out here. It’s a nice balance, you can sell several different types of services,? he added.
The store offers four different cellular carriers, disposable prepaid phones, wireless head sets and full auto accessories.
‘Most other stores only provide phones from one carrier? There’s nothing we can’t get a hold of. If we don’t have it, we can order it,? said Kaskorkis, who emphasized his store carries accessories for some phones not necessarily in stock.
Kaskorkis, a Walled Lake Central graduate, started working in an Allstar Wireless store in Flint at 15 to earn spending money. He’s spent a total of eight years in the wireless business.
‘I got interested in this business because it’s easy to sell. People need a phone,? said Kaskorkis.
In the future, Kaskorkis hopes to add a Nextel repair center.
