Fire damages Goodrich home

Goodrich.-Firefighters from Atlas, Brandon and Davison townships responded to a house fire on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at 8158 South St.
Flames and smoke were visible from the southeast corner of the upper story of the white Goodrich home. Firefighters entered the structure via a second story window over the porch.
Atlas Township Fire Department Chief Jim Naugler said no major injuries were reported, however the male homeowner may have sustained minor injuries.

Genesee Sheriff Department closed M-15, between Green and Hegel roads for about an hour while firefighters battled the blazed.
Neighbor Stephanie Donahue and her boyfriend, Jeff Rathburn, of Flushing, said they were alerted to the blaze next door by an knock at the door from an unidentified Ortonville resident.
The woman told Donahue and Rathburn they should move their cars due to the fire..
Rathburn estimated it was 15 minutes later that the first fire department arrived at the blaze.
Naugler said Lt. Jeff Slagel of the Atlas Township Fire Department was driving by the home when the call came in and was on the scene in less than one minute.
Officials did not yet know the cause of the fire at press time on Thursday.
