Dozens of parents, high school students and community performers converged on Springfield Plains Elementary Thursday for Art Around the World, an International Journey through the Fine Arts.
The entire school was transformed into a performing arts gallery and studio for the day, as students learned how to draw, tell stories, make jewelry, beat on drums, sing, dance, and create other works of art, all with the help of volunteers and performers.
Students gathered for assemblies to listen to Harpbeat percussion, Native American culture, and African drum performances. Workshops throughout the day gave them a chance to try out new things.
