Something is going to be different at Pine Tree Elementary School this year.
Instead of selling candy, members of the PTO decided to host a Fall into Fitness Fun Run on Sept. 26. They hope their students will be able to raise $20,000.
Monies raised will support teachers, purchase items for the school, helps the media center bring in authors and illustrators, creates gardens and supports the PTO Family Fun Night.
An assembly took place on Sept. 5 to gets the kids pumped up for the event. On hand were Coach Steve and JW from the Piston’s organization.
Coach Steve told the students to start practicing for the event or they would get tired and not complete many laps.
The Piston’s organization is also providing some prizes for the event.
Members of the PTO believe this fundraiser will promote healthy activity and choices. Students will set distance goals and are encouraged to meet those goals while participating with their classmates in a healthy activity.
