Last week, we asked our followers “What do you think about the new DIA mural going up in downtown Lake Orion on the side of 120 S. Broadway (the four story building)? Why?”

We had 73 people respond to the poll on Facebook, with 61 people stating that they Love it!; seven people said that art is in the eye of the beholder; five people selected What is it? and no one indicated that they Hate it!

A few residents let us know their additional thoughts:

“I love it, there’s a couple other places art work would look great at,” said Tim Williams, Promoter for 20 Front Street.

While a majority of people love the mural, some wished there had been more resident input.

“It would’ve been nice for the public to have input before it’s painted,” wrote Linden Vennard on our Facebook poll.

It’s also important to note that M-24 construction has rerouted many motorists away from the mural.

“I stay out of downtown because of the M-24 construction,” said Susan Yagiela Williams

On Twitter, we received 14 votes, with ten people stating that they Love it!; one person said that art is in the eye of the beholder; three people selected What is it? and no one indicated that they Hate it!

Unscientific results: A majority of our followers love the DIA mural.
