A winning regular season is swiftly turning into a winning post-season for the Lake Orion High School Varsity Boys Soccer Team.
The Dragons swept the Division I Districts, winning the championship game on Oct. 24. The team began district play against Pontiac Northern on Oct. 20, winning that game in an 11-0 shutout. Billy Weaver had six goals for Lake Orion, along with two assists.
Lake Orion’s victory was a solid team effort with Brian Hill scoring two goals, and teammates Brandon Powell, Tim Dean, Graeme Doyle and Drew White each contributing a goal.
On Oct. 22, the Dragons hosted Lakeland, resulting in another shutout with a 2-0 win for the team. Weaver had two goals in the district semi-final, while goalkeeper White racked up five saves.
Lake Orion capped the tournament with a district final championship, taking out Rochester Adams 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 24 at White Lake.
Weaver had one goal and one assist in regulation, while Hill scored the game-winner in overtime. Lake Orion finished districts with an 18-0-5 record in OAA II.
