Deputy interrupts armed robbery at drugstore

The holiday grinches came packing heat at the CVS in the Village of Lake Orion.
At 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 18, an on-duty Oakland County Sheriff Deputy unknowingly interrupted an armed robbery in progress at CVS Pharmacy.
Deputy Liss was on unrelated business when he walked into the pharmacy on S. Broadway. He passed two men walking out who were wearing ‘hoodies’ and red scarves over their faces.
When Liss entered the store, the clerk declared that he had been robbed by the men who just left.
Deputy Liss advised dispatch of the incident and quickly followed on foot. He apprehended one suspect near the Heritage Apartment complex and recovered a CVS bag containing money and an ‘airsoft’ pistol, a weapon similar to a BB gun.
Deputies soon converged on the area and conducted a search. The second suspect’s identification showed a home address on Atwater Street. Deputies discovered him at the address a short time later hiding in the basement behind the washer and dryer.
Deputies turned both subjects over to the Lake Orion PD who is currently seeking warrants for both suspects for armed robbery.
