Lake Orion’s Northern Flooring and Interiors announced last week that they would be hosting a fundraiser for Design For A Difference’s makeover of Oxford’s Crossroads for Youth.

The Hawaiian-themed fundraiser named Luau by the Lake will take place on August 1 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Northern Flooring and Interiors located at 845 S. Lapeer rd.

This event will feature a Hawaiian themed spread provided by Lockhart’s BBQ, a DJ from Three Mates Entertainment and a silent auction with a grand prize raffle drawing.

Detroit-based interirior designer and Design For A Difference Ambassador Hollie Gyarmati will also be in attendence signing her memoir The Mother of All Makeovers.

Oxford’s Crossroads for Youth is currently renovating its 5,050 square-foot girl’s residence, the Matus House.

“We’ve been part of the Design for a Difference movement since its inception. As a business, it’s vital to us to give back to the community where we live and work,” said owner of Northern Flooring and Interiors Matt Pfeiffer. “Crossroads for Youth is so important for youth in this area as it provides a safe-haven for abused and neglected children. As experts in creating interior spaces, we can really give these kids an environment that helps them feel safe and comfortable during a difficult time.”

Northern Flooring and Interiors is coordinating the design and interior finishes of the estimated $600,000 renovation of the girl’s space. This includes ten bedrooms, a kitchen, a family room, therapy room, computer stations and more.

Luau by the Lake is open to the public and tickets will be available on-site for $25 a person. All proceeds will go to the Oxford Crossroads for Youth makeover. — M.K.
