The Oxford Varsity Competitive Cheer Team has spent the last week gearing up for tonight’s Flint-Metro League competition at Brandon High School and is determined to place even higher than the last competition.
At the Lake Orion Invitational on Jan. 28, the girls placed fourth in their pool with a first round total of 173, 170.5 in the second round and 246.5 in the third.
Over 20 school districts from around the area participated in the invitational.
Coach Alanna Stockley said even though the team is still nursing some injuries, many improvements have been made since the beginning of the season.
‘We have been considering this year our rebuilding year,? she said. ‘We have required harder skills for the girls to be in the rounds and by next year, those skills will be perfected and we will be one tough team to beat.?
Come cheer the girls on at the Flint-Metro League Cheer Competition tonight at Brandon High School at 6 p.m.
