Carrie McEvers, 51, of Lake Orion

Carrie Lynn McEvers of Lake Orion, age 51, passed suddenly on Feb. 14, 2024.
Carrie is the loving wife of Carl McEvers; mother of Lydia Hanson (21) and her boyfriend Nicholas Fischer, Davis Hanson (24) and his fiancé Jolie Phillips, and Calvin McEvers (7); and stepson Collin McEvers (26). Carrie is also survived by her mother and father, Jerry and Marilyn Nyquist; brother Matthew Nyquist and sister-in-law Kelly Nyquist; and nieces Lilly and Sophie Nyquist.
Born on October 13, 1972, in Troy, Michigan, Carrie attended Athens High and played the clarinet in the marching band throughout high school. One of her favorite memories was traveling with the senior H.S. band to play in the Florida Orange Bowl. She enjoyed friendships, rock music of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and even Johnny Cash, she also loved MTV. Carrie was a light in the room when visiting with her aunts and uncles.
Carrie married Jeffrey Hanson in 1997 and gave life to children Lydia and Davis. Later she was blessed again to fall in love with Carl McEvers and they married in 2014. Her family grew with Carl’s son Collin, and Calvin was then born in 2016. Carrie had a real love of animals including her past dog Zoey, and recently her dog Miles and cat Henry. She loved traveling around Michigan, enjoying the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Oscoda and the Upper Peninsula’s cool weather.
Carrie’s career began at Western Michigan University and finished at Macomb Community College to obtain her associate degree as a veterinarian technician. She worked many years as a Vet Tech, then worked at the Powerhouse Gym, and finally landed at Trademark Property Solutions where she enjoyed real estate & property management.
Carrie was always looking out for others and making sure everyone’s needs were taken care of. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Carrie never asked for help and didn’t want to be a burden on anyone, no matter how much she was struggling. Her beautiful soul will always be watching over us.
As we celebrate her life, we are genuinely touched to see how many people have always been there to love and support her. We wish she could be here to see it with us, but I know she can still see us all and can be at peace.
Carrie’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, the memories shared, and the love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Oakwood Chapel, 2750 N. Baldwin Rd in Oxford, MI 48371. May we all find comfort in the cherished memories and the enduring love we hold for Carrie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to their Go Fund Me for Carrie to help assist the family during this difficult period.
