A Chicago website helped put Brandon Township on the map nationally.
Brandon High School seniors Ahmad Dandachi and Chelsea Perry won first place in the web applications event at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference held May 7-9 in Reno, Nev. They were competing against 20-30 teams from 15 different states.
‘I was excited, I didn’t expect it,? said Perry. ‘I never thought I’d be a national champion at something.?
Perry and Dandachi began working on an entry for the annual competition in October, the topic of which was ‘Destination: Anywhere.? They were to choose any city in the world and create a website for it. They selected the Windy City because, Perry said, ‘Everyone loves Chicago.?
Perry designed the look of the website and Dandachi took over the administrative portion of the website, making a login, adding items to the calendar, and creating newsletters.
The site, which can be found at www.destination-chicago.org, features shopping, history, transit, and sights and sounds links.
For their win, Dandachi and Perry received a plaque and medals. Perry notes the achievement will also look very good on their resumes.
